Here’s what you can expect as a first-time donor:

Check in with our friendly staff at your local donation center and present your required documents.

A quick health screening confirms that you meet eligibility criteria, ensuring a safe and comfortable donation process.

Donation

A highly trained phlebotomist will guide you through the plasmapheresis process using sterile, single-use equipment. You’ll relax in a clean, welcoming facility while your plasma is collected, and the rest of your blood components are safely returned to your body.

Unwind & Enjoy the Benefits

Sit back and relax knowing you’re making a real difference. After your first donation, you’ll receive compensation within 24 hours on a prepaid debit card. You can donate up to two times per week to maximize your impact and rewards.

Donate Again Within 14 Days

Don't forget to come back within 14 days of your first visit. Your first donation can’t be used until you complete the second. Help make an impact and keep earning rewards.
What To Bring

What Documents to Bring to your First Plasma Donation

Before your first visit, make sure to bring:

A valid, government-issued photo ID

  • Please ensure your ID is not expired.

Proof of Social Security Number

  • SSN card (no copies)
  • Voter registration card with SSN
  • US military ID card or draft record / military dependent ID card
  • W-2 employer’s report of wages earned
  • Current pay stub from employer that includes SSN that employer uses to complete W-2

Proof of current residence

  • Provide a utility bill, lease agreement, etc., dated within the last 60 days.

Health Requirement

Make sure you’re feeling healthy on the day of your visit.

Identification

Bring a valid, government-issued photo ID, proof of your Social Security Number, and proof of your current address (dated within the last 60 days).

What should I expect during my first donation?

Your first visit includes registration, screening, a physical exam, and a comfortable donation process guided by our professional staff. The entire process typically takes about two hours, but return visits are usually much quicker.

How often can I donate plasma?

You can donate up to two times per week, provided you remain eligible and healthy, with at least 48 hours between donations.

Is plasma donation safe?

Absolutely. We use sterile, single-use equipment for each donation and follow strict safety protocols. Your health and comfort are our top priorities.

How and when will I get paid?

After each successful donation, your compensation is loaded onto a prepaid debit card within 24 hours. If you have any questions about plasma donation payments, please contact your local center directly via phone.

Can I schedule appointments in advance?

Yes. New donors can schedule your first donation online, use our OctaApp, OctaPass, & OctaRewards, or visit your local center. Walk-ins are always welcome, but appointments can help you save time.

What should I do before donating?

Make sure to eat a healthy meal packed with nutritious foods to fuel your body, drink plenty of water to stay hydrated throughout the day and avoid caffeine or alcohol as they can dehydrate you. These simple steps can help you feel your best and maintain overall well-being.

What if I don’t have all the documents?

If you don't have the required documents, no problem. Just return with valid ID, proof of address, and any other needed paperwork. Our staff will guide you so you're ready for a smooth donation process next time.

What if I donated at another plasma center?

If you’ve recently donated at a plasma center other than Octapharma Plasma, that’s okay. Just inform our staff upon arrival and provide details about your last donation. Please note that there is a 7-day waiting period when switching plasma centers to ensure your safety and comply with donation guidelines. Our team is here to assist you every step of the way.
